Are You Ready For Breast Implants?

Let’s face it: our society is constantly telling us through a variety of ways what exactly the perfect woman looks like. Our collective worship of celebrities, punctuated by criticism whenever a famous femme gains or loses too much weight. It can become very nerve-wracking for the average Jane.

But on the other hand, the counterculture of everyday ladies seems to pin the possibility of cosmetic surgery as entirely shallow and/or unnecessary. While you may be contemplating breast augmentation or some other procedure, you are also fearing the judgment that may be passed upon you.

My take on plastic surgery of all kinds is much different than the “norm.” In fact, I am all for it under the right conditions. But what are those right conditions? Only the individual can tell. So, are you ready to get breast implants? Only you can make the final decision, but here are some things to think about.

How long have you been wanting breast augmentation surgery? Surgery of any kind is not something to undertake on a whim, which is why so many doctors require multiple consultations. But before you even take that step, you need to weigh your desires against other factors.

If you are still young, you need to realize that your breasts can continue to grow even into your mid-twenties. Furthermore, circumstances like pregnancy and breastfeeding are almost bound to change the size of your breasts.

In the event that you are closer to middle-aged and you have decidedly finished with your family planning, you are going to be better equipped to make such a big decision. Keep in mind that getting an augmentation before you have finished breastfeeding can cause some complications.

How do you think of yourself without implants? How do you envision yourself with them? If you associate breast augmentation with easy confidence and automatic happiness, you need to slow down. Many people make the mistake of believing cosmetic surgery will fix their self-image problems only to be disappointed (and possibly in debt) later.

Instead, focus on looking and feeling good right now. Do the things you know you should you should–exercise, eat well, and enjoy the simple things of life. If you have serious body image problems, then you should consider seeing a therapist that specializes in your issue.

Finally, after you have taken all of these aspects into account, you should do some research about the varying types of implants offered by cosmetic surgeons in your area. There are actually dramatic differences among the types, so be sure to weigh your options carefully.
